No Need to Care

It is hard to escape it. The indifferent look, the blank stare, the "whatever" response. If you haven't noticed, customer services is at an all time low. People aren't expecting much and it would seem we really aren't getting much in return. If it doesn't work or fit, if it isn't quite right, or doesn't taste as expected, well, too bad. That is just the way it is. You pay and you take your chances.

Perhaps the answer lies within some cultural ,economic and societal changes. People don't have much of a vested interest in their behaviors or jobs anymore.

There isn't the pride, incentive or interest in doing things well. There also isn't a real sense in most people of what is done well and what is not. So, we are often debating about standards that don't exist.

It is hard to give what you never got. So when it comes to the work-a-day world, if you don't know and really don't care, the end results shouldn't be such a surprise.
