Egonomics

Business books offer ways and means to further your success. Often times via topics that that revolve around some "brilliant idea", that if enacted would improve or greatly enhance your business, your success.

Generally overlooked, is "your personal ability and aptitude to enact these "ideas or concepts". If for some reason you are limited emotionally or intellectually, seldom would any concept or approach offer much in the way of change or success.

We read and hear stories of the Dilbert Principle at work and how goofy and unproductive personalities and individual behaviors can be to workplace success. Perhaps the best start then, would be assessing what you can and can't do, and then develop your own behavioral benchmarks. Working in a large organization will allow you to hide and often be one of the Dilbert characters. Having your own business and not discovering your strengths or weaknesses soon puts you back to work with the Dilbert crowd. Maybe not bad work if you can get it!
